Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair REMOVAL. Laser is only permanent hair REDUCTION. Electrolysis, unlike laser, can remove any color hair from any color skin, including blonde, red, grey and PEACH FUZZ TOO! In addition to electrolysis serving the purpose of beauty and cosmetics, it also works for women with PCOS, and you should check with your insurance company to see if that is covered due to a hormonal disorder.

For best results, electrolysis should always be performed under an INTENSE MAGNIFYING LAMP with bright light backing it up in order to obtain the correct angle and proper reflection of all hairs, light or dark, straight or curved. The permanent results of the hair removal is totally based on the accuracy of the probe insertion, targeting the root of the hair. Diane works with an 8 and 5 diaptor lamp magnification lamp, backed up with fluorescent lighting which allows her to see even the lightest of hairs and the angle at which they protrude from the skin. This magnification and lighting is of utmost importance in achieving final, but more importantly PERMANENT results.

What you should expect during the Treatment:

When you arrive you will be asked to fill out a case history card stating any health issues, medications, contact info, etc.  Then you can ask Diane any questions about the procedure. People always ask how long until the hair will be permanently gone but every individual is different. The course of time for the permanent results is based on numerous factors including the density of the hair, the thickness of the hair, the size of the area the hair covers for example a lip area will require much less treatment time than the chin or neck or sides of face or bikini line.  It will also depend on whether your hair is straight or curly and you race. Another factor is the treatment methods you have been using in the past to remove the hair. If you had been tweezing or waxing, you have several cycles of hair beneath the skin that have not resurfaced yet and even if there is no hair viewable on the skin after the first treatment, the hairs that were tweezed or waxed 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 weeks ago, and in a growing cycle under the skin and will appear weekly or biweekly - all depending on how often you were tweezing or waxing. You will also be asked if you have been checked for PCOS which is often the cause for hair growth in women and it that is not treated by a physician, new hairs will continue to grow due to the hormone issue, therefore if Diane is permanently removing the existing hairs, new hairs will most likely continue to grow, so diagnosis of PCOS (if it exists) is a very important part of the treatment plan. Many times hair growth can also be contributed to genetics,, hormones, or an increase of hair growth due to tweezing and waxing.

As for the treatment, the area to be treated will be cleaned with alcohol to sanitize and wash away any germs or bacteria. Then the treatment begins and a small probe is inserted into each hair follicle and once properly angled an has reached the correct depth a small heat current travels down to the root (papilla) of the hair and kills a portion of the root. IF the hair is extremely light for example peach fuzz, the hair may not return at all, however if it is thick it will come back every 4-6 weeks and require treatment until the root is completely destroyed, thus the hair permanently removed.  The reason you cannot destroy thick hairs in one or two treatment is because too much heat would be required and would damage the skin, so it needs to be done in small increments each time the hair resurfaces - every 4-6 weeks. Do not become discouraged, electrolysis is not an over night fix, it takes time , patience, and dedication, but after the final results are achieved you feel so much more confident about yourself.

During the treatment you will feel a bit of a heat sensation after the technician inserts the probe. You should NOT feel any pulling or tweezing effect after you feel the zap of the heat, the hair should simply slide out . Any skilled electrologist will be aware if the hair is not sliding out easily and will readjust either the depth of the insertion, the angle of the insertion, or the timing of the heat in order to effectively target the papilla of the hair, and destroy portions of the root safely, and effectively at intermittent appointments.  That is why the hair comes back several times over the coming months, but is lighter and finer each time it reappears until the entire root is completely destroyed.

After the treatment your skin will be treated with a cooling gel and you will be given an after treatment card with all the information you need to know as to how to care for your skin that day and during the week. Basically keeping it very clean, wearing sunscreen, no greasy cremes the first day etc.  A good idea is to apply a bit of ice if possible when you return home for about ten minutes if the skin looks pink. Some people have no reaction at all, while other sometimes have a slight pinkish flush. If any little pink dots appear a day or two later do not pick them, and advise your electrologist at your next treatment.

Diane will then talk to you about a treatment schedule that suits your schedule.

Please understand that electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal approved by the FDA and if done properly by a skilled electrologist and the client is committed to the treatment schedule…. the results are excellent. Commitment to a treatment schedule and refraining from waxing and tweezing are top priority in order to achieve your permanent results. You may use other temporary methods of hair removal in between treatments if necessary, but never tweeze or wax, as it works against the permanent removal.

Diane looks forward to hearing from you and answering any of your questions. Best contact is call or text 914 715 3555.

Message From Diane James:

DEAR PROSPECTIVE CLIENT:

The way we look physically has a lot to do with the way we feel about ourselves emotionally. Everyone wants to feel secure about their appearance, but sometimes it is difficult to do when we know there is something about ourselves that we are embarrassed about or would like to correct.

Years ago, when I was only a teenager I developed hair growth on my upper lip and found it very disturbing and embarrassing. After much hesitation, I researched the process of electrolysis and began treatments. It was years later when I realized what a positive change electrolysis had made in my life, and it was then that I began my schooling for a career in permanent hair removal. I have been in practice for over 28 years, and for the past 25 years, leading area dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons have referred their patients to me for hair removal. It has been a very rewarding time for me as I have been able to help people conquer a problem which would have been ongoing if it hadn't been for electrolysis.

Due to the fact that excessive hair growth is hereditary I have had the privilege of meeting up to 3 generations of families over the years, and it is a very heartwarming feeling and a declaration of trust from all of my past clients. I feel so gratified seeing the wonderful changes which takes place in a person's life, not only physically but also emotionally. It is a privilege to have the training and certification to make such a positive change in someone's life.

I am passionate about my practice and I promise you that as a professional electrologist, my focus will always be on your needs. My every effort will be in providing you with treatments that are comfortable and effective. Unlike years ago, we now offer insulated probes and numbing gels which make the treatments much more comfortable. The setting at Diane's office is very private and relaxing with your choice of either TV or soothing music. If finding a sitter for your children is a problem - it no longer is because my office is child friendly with a big screen TV and some children's games. My goal is to meet your expectations and make your experience with electrolysis a favorable one, just as mine was.

In addition to electrolysis I also offer treatment for removal of INGROWN HAIRS which affect the appearance of our skin.

Every client is unique in their own way and the amount of time it takes for complete removal depends on many things such as the density of the hair, the thickness of each hair, the temporary procedures you have used in the past, the curvature of the hair follicle and the area you want to remove the hair from. Of course larger areas such as the chest, back, shoulders, legs etc. will require more treatments time vs. the lip, or brows would. However, electrolysis is the ONLY PERMANENT method of hair removal approved by the FDA, so with patience, time, and commitment, you will achieve the results you have always wanted.... but this time it will be permanent !

Certified Kree Graduate
NYS Licensed Aesthetician
Specialist in Dark Skin, Ingrown Hairs, Hormonal Disorders

In addition to Diane being a certified electrologist for over 25 years, and highly recommended by cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists, she is also a NYS Licensed Esthetician.

I had been suffering with blackheads, whiteheads and acne on my forehead and nose for so many years and it really affected my self -esteem. I found Diane’s skincare through a friend and started visiting her once ever few weeks for extractions. Her prices were so reasonable and she was very knowledgeable in her work. I had been to many other estheticians in the past, but Diane was very consistent in her work, rarely had to wait in the reception office, and very knowledgable in her work. My skin has improved so much over the past 6 months, andmy treatments are more and more spaced out. She gave me an at home treatment to follow in additon to her treatments and I am fully pleased with the results of my treatments. I have referred many of my friends to her and they have thanked me.
